Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. I can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.
Strategies we can use to overcome these issues include: EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
I teach a multi-layer approach to treating trauma and healing from chronic PTSD symptoms. Learning about how our brains work is the first step. Here, we learn how the brain stores and records traumatic experiences differently from our everyday experiences. Second, learning about our physical responses to trauma helps explain why we react to triggers in our daily lives. Through understanding our bodies' reaction to trauma, we are empowered to overcome our pasts.
I teach mindfulness and mediation techniques to heal the body and calm the emotional brain creating more space to heal and change the client's perspective. Surviving trauma creates behaviors that were needed for survival when we were going through a stressful event. As we move past those experiences, these behaviors are not always helpful to our lives moving forward. Learning behavioral techniques through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT) can help clients replace negative behaviors with positive ones and build healthier perspectives.
